BIOMES
Biomes are very large ecological areas on the earth's surface, with fauna and flora (animals and plants) adapting to their environment. Biomes are often defined by abiotic factors such as temperature, climate, relief, geology, soils and vegetation.
Biomes are distinct biological communities that have formed in response to a shared physical climate. "Biome" is a broader term than "habitat"; any biome can comprise a variety of habitats. While a biomecan cover large areas, a microbiome is a mix of organisms that coexist in a defined space on a much smaller scale.
How many biomes are there in the world?
